LIVE FRIENDSTER

Actually this post was supposed to be posted last month. But due to no pictures yet, so I didn't get the inspiration to write something here. Anyway, let's start it out! :)

Do you all know what is FRIENDSTER? Well friendster is an online profile where you can get to know new people all around the world. The more you get to know more people, your network of friends enlarge and you might find the love of your life there... hmm... hehehehe....

Well well... Last month, there was something called Live Friendster organized by Psychology Students for the Psychology Week. It means that you get to know new friends in real, which is face to face. It's mostly to get to know other people, especially from the opposite sex. Hmm... you might be wondering if Robin hooked up with any girls that day. Well continue reading, you'll get to know what happened during that day.

First I came to the Live Friendster event with Michelle as she had nothing else to do. Actually I didn't know what was happening during this small event but somehow I wanted to make new friends. So we started with having a sticker stating which number we are. I was No 1!!! :D Both guys and girls were separated on each side of the class. Guys had the blue sticker and the girls had the pink color sticker both stating number. After numbering us, we started our first game. The first game was quite fun but we did it wrong unfortunately. We had to tie ourselves by holding our hands of the person who's opposite to us then we had untie ourselves without opening our hands. So it was quite hard. I played this game before but seriously I can't remember how we played this game. Anyway it was fun and then we carried on with our next game. So I was number 1 right? I had to go with the girl who's number 1 also. Hmm... well this time it's a couple game. "My partner" and I had to tie a balloon to our feet and then we had to fight with the other couple to explode theirs. Hmm... I had to fight with Michelle in the end. Unfortunately I lost! :(

Anyway that was not all in the program. There was more than that. Now goes to the "serious" thing. It's called Speed Dating. Ok let me tell you what is Speed Dating all about. It's a game, according to them, where you "date" the person of the opposite sex and get to know her within 3mins. You might that, "That's all???" Yeah it was for 3mins only "unfortunately". :P hehe... So they placed 6 tables where you're like going on a date. Sit there face to face to the opposite sex!!! Woohoo!!! Alright guys, hold your horses! I'm not done yet! :p hehe... Yeah I "dated" 6 girls including Michelle. But somehow, I just took it as a game. I didn't want this game to affect me in real life. Sometimes I think that girls are complicated in some ways. Some girls are like this and some girls are like that. So yeah, during this game, I just got to know new friends only, nothing more than that. There are only 2 people I kept in touch in the end because one of them is Hendra's coursemate and she came to my cell group once last year but I've forgotten about her last time. Anyway, she's just a friend, nothing more than that. Then I kept in touch with her best friend as well because they are always together. :p hehe..

Yeah at the end of this speed dating game, we had to write who is the best guy or best girl that we think that we can interact more with. Some put 2 names and some put 1. I put 2!!! Yeah there was Michelle and the girl that is Hendra's coursemate. The reason why I put them, is because that's the only 2 people that I know. Finally the results that we all waited for. The results will see which guy and girl is date-able. Guess who was the winner for that day!!! Yeah I know who you will say. You will say Me and Michelle right??? hehe.. I can read your thoughts!!! But actually we were not the couple that won. The MC was asking, "Who do you think is the winner on the guys side???" All the guys shouted, "Robin!!! Robin!!! Robin!!!" I wonder why they shouted my name! :/ Then MC asked, "Who do you think is the winner on the girls side???" The girls shouted, "Michelle!!! Michelle!!! Michelle!!!" I wonder why they all think that we are the best couple among all! These people are indeed very weird indeed. Yeah they are Malaysians that's why!!! hahaha!!! Ok I'm joking! I love Malaysians!!! :P hehehe...

The results were announced and yes, I was the winner for the Live Friendster and Joyce, Hendra's coursemate won this also. She was not expecting it and we both won the prize that we both shared in the end. Anyway I'm not dating her in the end, although she's a nice girl, I must say. But I'm not really interested in dating through this kind of games. Somehow I didn't want my seniors to tease me afterwards and say, "woooh Robin is now dating with that girl huh???" Yeah so better be me, I and myself! I choose the girl I want and I hate when people set me up to date someone! Anyway that's all that I have to say for today! :)

It's all about Love, Love, Love!!!

Today's post will be all about love, love, love. Yeah I'm gonna talk about love, love, love!
This is what I think love is all about.

Yesterday before I went for my CF evaluation meeting, I was being interviewed by one of my seniors. I don't want to mention about her name now, because she hasn't passed up the work yet. So anyway, I hope that she can get good marks on that! :)

The main question I was asked is, "What is the meaning of love for you?" To tell you the truth, a lot of people will say that it's too broad topic. Yes it's true. It's a very large and broad topic. Actually I describe love differently for different people.

1. Love my parents
2. Love my siblings
3. Love my friends
4. Love my life-partner

I had to describe how I would love each of these in my life. Well it took more than 1 hour to just talk about love. It's a very interesting topic because many people sees love in a different aspect. While she was interviewing me, she was deeply moved by my aspect of love. Somehow love is all about how to treat others and how you want them to treat you in the same way. It's like an exchange but this is called a love exchange.

When I'm talking about love, it's not about SEX! Many people nowadays, especially guys which is very shameful to say, think that love equals to sex! How can you think of something physical if you inner-self is not being controlled by you? Your values counts. Most girls actually doesn't seek for sex in a relationship. They seek for care, respect and devotion to them. So guys, control yourselves!!!

Let me elaborate on different way I expresses my love to people.

1. LOVE MY PARENTS

The way I expresses my love to my parents is by helping them. For example, I help them in doing the chores or if I need to carry some stuffs, I will do so. At first I was not very helpful to my parents and I didn't respect them at all. But with time I realized that they have raised me up since I was born and I should be grateful for them. All these times I was not really grateful at all. I was proud, selfish and arrogant. I won't even say Happy Birthday to my mum at that time. But now I've changed.

The other thing that I realized is that my parents are becoming old and somehow I'm becoming a strong young man. I believe that all these times they have taken care of me since I was young, now it is my duty as their own child to take care of my parents as they grow older. Sooner or later, they won't have strength to carry things, so that's where I will offer them my strength. This is how I love my parents.

2. LOVE MY SIBLINGS

My siblings is another way for me to express my love to them. According to Dr Gary Chapman, he describes 5 love languages that we expresses and feel towards people. Click here for more details. For my brother, although he's younger than me by 1 year, he thinks that he is the eldest. Anyway, my approach in demonstrating my love to him, is by respecting him. If I respect him, he will respect me. Stating one of the 5 love languages, his love language is Words of Affirmation. If I don't praise him or encourage him or cheer him up, he doesn't feel that I love him. But if I do, then he will feel loved. Whereas my sister, her approach is different from my brother. As my love language is Quality time, so I would spend time more with my sister, but it's not her love language. So all these time I had to see what is her love language in a way I can express my love to her. Well her love language is Acts of Service. For example, she likes cooking and she would prefer that I help her to mixing the ingredients and washing the dishes than to praise her and tell her that her food is good. She's that type of person that expects that you'll help her without she asking you.

3. LOVE MY FRIENDS

The way I expresses my love to my friends is by caring. Justify my answer, as my interviewer will always say. Well caring for my friends is something to sacrifice such as my time and money. Somehow Quality Time is very important for me in my friendships. It helps me to know the people I'm friends with and how I can help them and how they can help me. In other terms, I expect something from a friend as I sacrifice my time and money for them. You would say that I'm rich that's why I can sacrifice my money. Actually you see, if one day your friend is in need and don't have money to eat, at least you can help. Although your friend has money but if you bless your friend a meal for example, next time it may not be your friend but somebody will know that you're a generous person. That's where your fame increases and you get to know more friends. Yeah somehow some just come for my money, but in the end, this friendship doesn't last for long because of the wrong intention of the person. Last time I was reading my Bible during my devotion. I came across this verse in, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13, NIV)

4. LOVE MY LIFE-PARTNER

Alright I don't have any partner for the moment but I believe that I'll have one soon!!! :) Anyway this is how I'm going to treat my lovely one. The approach that I'll be giving is about Quality Time again. Yes Quality Time is very important in a couple life. That's my concept. My interviewer asked me if I believe in long distance relationship. Well actually I don't believe that it will work for long. The percentage is very super less that they will still be together for the rest of their lives. I believe that if someone wants to based their relationship on a long distance, it must be based on a very strong foundation of love, commitment, sincerity and understanding. Without these components, I don't think that the long distance relationship will last forever. Love is not something to be played with but something that we live with! Nowadays a lot of young people just try to have a relationship with someone then see if he/she is the right one. I don't advice to try because you might not know what is the other one's feeling especially if it's a girl. It's very bad that you're the guy and you start a relationship with this girl and then you break up with her because she's not your type. Don't you think that the girl will hate you for that and that you've broken her heart where she was hoping on you? The way guys see things and girls see things are completely different. My interviewer continues and asked, "what are you finding in a girl?" Hmm.. it's a very interesting question indeed. A lot of people will look on the physical first but I'm the contrary of that. I look at the attitude, behavior and character. If it doesn't match with me, then I'm so sorry you're not the one. Physical attraction comes second place for me. Of course I'd like to have a pretty girl to be my girlfriend. Let's say the girl is super hot but then she might be dumb! Well most of the time it's like that, there's a lot of sexy and hot babes, but actually they are dumb. Pretty on outside but not on the inside, is equal to a miserable lifetime but pretty on the inside, it will reflect on the outside (coz she's smart), that's where you'll live the best lifetime.
Well that's all about love for today, the interview ended with my senior after 1 hour. I'm happy that I've been able to help her in her assignment. I'm getting tired to typing and having inspirations of writing. Anyway before you all go, I just want to share with you 2 videos that really describe a father's love for her daughter. I hope that this will bless you. Enjoy! :)

UCSI Easter Rally aftermath

University College Sedaya International - Christian Fellowship (UCSI CF) had an awesome night on the 18th March 2008. It was indeed the first time for us to do a Christian Rally to celebrate Easter. We all came up with the idea on the theme : "Life-RW! Is yours rewritable?" Most of the CF members were involved in this rally so as to make this event a success.

This is how we promoted about it!

From the backstage to the stage crew, everyone was so passionate and did their parts so that it would be a memorable night to some of us. The hall was packed with an approximate number of 400 people. It all started with our 2 MCs Andrew & Josephine introducing and made the opening of our event. It was then followed by a video clip that Jonathan, our CF president, made and the crowd roared with scream and applause. It was time to praise and worship God. At first some people was not used to it but I invited them to rise up and participate. The presence of God was so filled as we were all worshiping Him.

After an awesome time in praise and worship, here it goes for the performance crew to be on stage. Andrew, the MC, introducing the performance and brief the crowd what it is all about, while the dancing, mime and drama team are getting ready at the backstage. While they were on stage, everyone was amazed by the performances especially the amazing mime glowing in the dark by the fluorescent light! A great cheer and applause was heard after the performances.

Altered Frequency

Next we had a very special band that we invited as being one of our guests. Altered Frequency, a band that not so many people knew, but as they came on stage and did their first song, the whole crowd cheered with joy! They might not be so famous, but now they are in UCSI. The band is formed of Andy (the lead vocalist/acoustic), Kysern (guitarist), David (on the bass), and Agnel (on the drums). Terry was invited to join them to play along. Indeed it was a great concert!

Rev. Kenneth Chin

At last, the special guest that we invited for this big event, he's young, dynamic, funny and he can rock the stage with laughter! He is no other than Rev. Kenneth Chin. The song Break Free was the background music as he walked in the stage, still introduced by Andrew. A lot of people in the hall were not very comfortable at first to see that there would be a preacher in the end, but the discomfort didn't last long. Rev. Kenneth Chin told his life story in a way that every single of us will laugh. Indeed his stories are all funny as he acted every single thing out. The greatest laughter was when he shared the story of his grandmother and himself. He then ended his story with his elder sister who would protect him every time when his grandmother would hit him with the huge wooden stick. His sister accepted to take the punishment that was upon him and get all the hits and all the pain. Although that his sister and himself hated each other, he didn't understand why she did this for him. In the end he shared that Jesus did the same for us all. He would take all our punishment that is due to us and paid the price instead.

As the rally was ending, he called out every people to rise up and stand up to give their lives to Jesus. To make their life to be written. As he invited the crowd to come in the front, he started to sing Jesus Loves Me, a song that most Christian learned in Sunday School as a kid. The presence of God filled this place again as the worship team joined all along with him singing. We kept singing it again and again. The song was just a song sang in Sunday School but this song became so powerful that we could see a lot of people coming and taking the stand to move in the front so that pastor will pray for them. With the help of the ushers and counselors, the people came to the front.

Lastly we all ended the rally with a background music played by Wei Zhong. There were people who were still coming for prayer so in the end, we didn't do our final song "I Am Free". But I believe that God did His part so the best is that we don't interrupt the work of His hands. Meanwhile there was CDs for sales from Altered Frequency and Pastor Kenneth's sermon CD. A lot of people went to take pictures with Altered Frequency and asked for their autographs.

Well to end this post, I would like to thank everyone who was involved in this rally to make it a success. I would like to thank the worship team especially, because I was part of the team, for your great effort. It's a blessing for me to work with you all although that sometimes during our practices we did have some clashes. But as a result, our fruits bear forth! Even Pastor Kenneth came to me and congratulate me and said that it's a good worship team! On his behalf, he's proud of all of you and so do I. I hope that in future we can do much greater things than this! :)

Mauritius - 40 Years of Independence

Mauritius
Our Country - Be proud of it!

Today is indeed a great day to remember! It is Mauritius' 40th of Independence Day. My country, my island, my nation. Yes indeed I'm a very patriotic person. At first I was not really patriotic but it's when I went overseas for studies, that's the time I become more concern about my own country.

For all of you who has never heard of Mauritius before. Well people check it out on Google. Please check out the pictures as well. You'll be overwhelmed by all these beautiful insight.

My last post was talking about my big dream. I don't tend to be Prime Minister of my country, although Mauritian will say that it sounds impossible for a Chinese to be PM in Mauritius. But it doesn't matter, if God calls me to be PM, then who can stop Him? Anyway my dream is not to be prime minister YET! Maybe it's coming soon.

I've been to church yesterday for our last day of conference with Pst Pat Mesiti. It was indeed a very good one. I was really blessed by what he shared to us all. He shared about 4 different kinds of T to live a prosperous life.

1. Talent
2. Time
3. Touch
4. Treasure

Today I've run through the MYC magazine and most of the articles inside was about from someone who can be an ordinary person to become an extraordinary one. Wow!!! Well last week it was the International Women Week (IWW) and I was truly encouraged by how women nowadays are rising up to have an equal right as man. I have this quote of mine that I said it during IWW, "We men, support women!" :) So in the MYC, there were a lot of women who started their job before they became famous. Well there were not only talking about women but men as well. It's so amazing to see that a lot of people who was just ordinary people and then turn out to be extraordinary people by being celebrities of nowadays. I'm pretty encouraged by this because they achieve their dreams from being an ordinary person to an extraordinary one.

Well today can be our independence day, but I would like to encourage you to pursue the dream of your heart. That's where you can make your country proud of you and that you should be proud to live in such a country. :)

NB: From now onwards I will put labels for each post :)

Just a random post

This post is just a random post.

Sometimes I feel that I have a very high expection on something but in the end it never happens. I've learned that we must think BIG and dream BIG. Actually I have a very big dream in my heart. This dream may sound ridiculous to some of you. My biggest dream, that I have in the corner of my heart, is to be someone famous, with high standard, so that I can make a big impact in my country especially in the younger generation. Well that's indeed very big I know. Some of you may think that my dream is too big and that it's impossible to achieve it. Well I believe with all my heart that I can achieve this big dream. If it is impossible, tell me how David killed Goliath the Giant?

I've been watching a movie recently, which I've borrowed from Caleb. It's called Facing the Giants. It's a Christian movie with a lot of Christian values. Indeed it's a good movie where you think there's no way but little did you know that there's a way for whoever who believes in God. This movie challenged me a lot in my faith and my growth in God. Where everything looks impossble to do, there's a way to make it possible!

This week I'm quite busy with a lot of stuffs. I have to go for the conference with Pat Mesiti. He's indeed a very good speaker and motivational person. So I didn't miss any of his meeting so far. I even received a book from him on the first day. His book is "How to get a millionaire mindset." I even got his signature and a picture with him but the picture is with Ivy. She is now blackmailing me to do something for her so that she gives me the picture. Anyway, I was saying that I was quite busy and the other things that I'm busy if right now is the CF Easter Rally and the International Welcoming party. Yes!! I'm in this international thing again! I think that I'm stuck in until I resign from the Student Council. Being the Vice President for the International Student as Student Council, this task makes me sweat a lot and sometimes brings nightmare.; Every time when I sleep, I think about it, I dream about it and I wake up with it. That's why these days I'm very lazy to wake up.

For the past 4 semesters that I've been to UCSI, I've been organizing the International Welcome Party. If you count well, yeah it's since I first joined UCSI. Since I've joined this school, I'm the chairperson to organize this event every semester. At first I said, it's not good but I can improve. Then on my second semester I wanted to improve it by having a committee. Indeed the committe people were really good at first, but little did I know that I would be betrayed by my own people. If you know that you're the leader of a group, you should respect the person and listen to everything that he has to say right? But there was this girl and this guy who was my MC and DJ respectively, they both did the things on their way. So that's why from an international welcome party, I had an african night!!! So the following semester I was so disappointed and then that's the time where I joined the Student Council and they put me as the post of the Vice President of the International Students. I was so excited at first that I got this post. But with time, you know, you get to do the same thing all the time and even the student council themselves not very cooperative. I feel that I didn't have enough backup for these past semesters. I didn't really have a team because everyone that I trusted, it ended up as a disaster.

Well as I said it's just a random post. Thanks for reading and I hope that I won't make your life a mess as you read this post.

Malaysian Elections

Today is the biggest happening thing ever in Malaysia. Well it's the Malaysian Elections. Actually I'm not really following who's winning or whatever. It's just that I love politics! :) Here in Malaysia, the election results is quite late and they are still seeing which party is the winner. Some will vote for the government and some will vote for the opposition. But who is the winner. This is the thing that we don't know yet. By the time I'm writing this, the results are still going out. Still very tense. Everyone wants to know what is the results and see who will be the next prime minister.

Anyway, it doesn't matter who wins. For me, it all depends on how God wants a leader of a country to be. If it happens that the winner is a party that you don't like, remember that it happens for a reason. I know that some will complain a lot and say "alamak why this one win lah! i dun like this fello lah!" (I'm just guessing only). That's what most citizens will do when the party they voted for failed to win. Guys and girls, why do you all complain about politics and then you say that your country is bad? Why do you vote for a party and then regret and live a miserable life? Why do you say that politics is dirty but you all talk about it all the time?

Guys and girls, politics is not dirty! You criticize about it all the time! You say that your education is not as good as other countries do. You say that your government is most of the time malays. You say that the taxes are too high. You say that your country is dominated by malays and lot of complains. But, you people of Malaysia, I'm not Malaysian but please do something for your country! Stop complaining! Instead of saying, "Don't worry, be happy!", NO!!! Rise up new leaders of your country! Young people, you are the next leader of the generation afterwards! Rise UP PEOPLE!!! Don't worry, DO SOMETHING!!! When you start doing something, that's where changes come in! It won't come drastically but at least it starts slowly. Who knows the generation after you might benefit what you have worked in? C'mon people! It's for the good of your children's children. At least you clean the group and you sow the good seed! It won't grow so fast but it takes time. Same in politics, it will take time.

Stand up and make a difference in your country and make Malaysia a country that is multicultural and multiracial and multi-religion. You must have freedom of religion else how people will respect you if you don't respect theirs? If Malaysia is truly Asia as it is known, why don't you be a true Asian who is welcoming? Asians brings a lot of cultures but what you do is that you don't respect the other one. Start accepting others. You are born in the same country, why fight for unnecessary reason? Although you have different cultures, learn from it and accept it. Do you think that you're better than them? No not at all!

Again, I would like to encourage you all to rise up for the benefit of your country. If you vote, vote wisely. The thing that I learned today in Pat Mesiti conference is, BE PASSIONATE! So guys and girls, be passionate about your country and about your people. Passion never dies, it is buried only. So burn with passion in your heart and take up the stand! :)

LET MALAYSIA BE TRULY ASIA!!!

Everybody YEAH, YEAH YEAH! (Backstreet Boys Concert)

Backstreet Boys (BSB) Concert was great! I went with Michi, Jojo and Lam. We left UCSI at about 5 something in the afternoon and we thought that we would be late there. Actually on our way to Sunway Lagoon, Mr Lam had accidentally turned in another direction and it took us a longer way to Sunway. We had to come across 2 tolls which is quite expensive but at least we got to see the famous billboard where the guy proposed to his girlfriend. Anyways we are not here to talk about the proposal of that guy to his girlfriend, it's about BSB concert!!! :D So I'll let the pictures speak to you! :)

Lam and I went to get the ticket on Tuesday at the Star

Lam and I got 2 free tickets from the star. Actually it's 2 pair of tickets. So we then blessed our friends. LamLam blessed Jojo with free ticket and I blessed Michi with free ticket too. See we guys are gentleman and think about girls first. :)
